Ways to Take Action

Write to Your Representatives

Your voice matters! Writing to your elected officials is an effective way to get their attention; they know that just one postcard can represent the shared opinion of hundreds of their constituents. If your representatives aren’t leading on progressive climate justice policy, let them know how you feel about it. Or, if they are, you can thank them for their work. Every postcard builds momentum toward climate legislation and progress.

HOW TO DO IT

  1. Find a postcard or paper and an envelope.

  2. Write a message to your US senators, US representative, state officials, or local officials. You can look up their contact information here.

    • Tell them you’re part of the bipartisan supermajority in support of climate justice policy. Ask them to work to end oil and gas subsidies and to take the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge rejecting political campaign donations from the fossil fuel industry (more information on the pledge is linked below). Or, simply tell them why the climate crisis matters to you. Any message you send will make a difference.

  3. Write their mailing address, add postage, and bring it to a mailbox near you.

  4. Make it a habit to contact your representatives about their political decisions and issues that concern you.
